I had quite a few flights I too had to cancel, due to several surgeries and a hospitalization of 2 months. Unfortunately for you, it was back in the good old days, before the spawn of Satan, also known as CO dba UA. Back then a fax from the surgeon's office to UA services and within a week I had either FULL credit for tickets or refund on my CC.

Those were the days, my friend....
