Current policy for medical cancellation and experience

Hi Folks,

I've recently been told by my doctor that I should not be flying until further notice. IT sucks considering I have about 10 reservations coming up in the next 2 months. These are all non refundable tickets ranging from 80 dollars to 300 dollars (def on the cheap side)

What can be done in my case? I've been told that I could cancel these ticket, use the credit later and pay 200/ticket change fee, then apply for a refund of the change fee. I was told by one agent that I would only get $150 back on each change fee yet another agent told me I would get the whole $200 back. It seems like a big risk as I have to cancel now and only when I rebook would I be able to use any value. I wonder if there is anyway just to get a ecert for the ticket value or a straight refund. What has your experiences been?

Thanks so much for the help!
