But no seriously, I stopped shopping at OD because I got tired of how they'd treat me like a terrorist any time I wanted to purchase gift cards with a credit card. The last time was when they argued with me about why they can't accept credit for one of their own Office Depot gift cards. I've switched all my purchasing to Staples even though I have to drive past three ODs to get to the closest Staples.
I'm probably one of the few people who comes close to maximizing out the 5x office supply category with actual office supplies spending, I spend close to $850+ a week, mostly in paper and ink. If I want to purchase an item openly offered for sale on a display, I shouldn't be harassed later at the check out counter. In my opinion OD is missing the big picture, sure gift cards might be a pain to process, but they are a cost of doing business when you are an office supply store. They can either offer gift cards and be happy about selling them, or businesses who legitimately use gift cards (As gifts or as a way to track employee spending) will go elsewhere for their purchases.
