I hope
Michaela Cross, aka RoseChasm, would agree with you that it's very safe and things like what happened to her in India is happening all over the world. BTW, she was more than just a (regular) tourist in India when she got raped.
I am a female. We obviously don't agree whether it's safe for female travelers in India. And let's just leave it at that.

its pretty obvious that this list doesn't make sense given the fact that saudi arabia is not on it....
Since this thread is about (female) travel experience in
India Forum, I believe the India portion of my referenced thread over
OMNI/PR does come in handy.
As for the "completeness" of the list, no survey can ever be all-inclusive and we are not here to critique the sampling strategy and/or methodology of
the survey conducted in 2011 by Thomson Reuters Foundation, but this is how they got the list:
The survey was based on responses from more than 200 aid professionals, academics, health workers, policymakers, journalists and development specialists chosen for their expertise in gender issues.
Each country was also ranked in terms of six risk factors including: health, discrimination and lack of access to resources, cultural and religious practices, sexual violence, human trafficking and conflict-related violence.
In terms of individual risk categories, Afghanistan was deemed to be the most dangerous for health, economic/discrimination and non-sexual violence; the Congo is most plagued by rape and sexual violence; and India has most problems with trafficking.
FWIW, "Saudi Arabia" is not absent from that OMNI/PR thread. A FT search gives me 17 posts. OTOH, a key word search of "India" renders 179 posts in thread.
