Did the phrase, "Wonder how they can top this..." briefly cross anyone else's mind when Hyatt and mLife announced the new partnership? Well, if this isn't the answer, it comes close. Again, bravo, Hyatt. ^

It's hard to see how this can fail, unless the economy tanks. Not only do they have their own conference center, they're right across from one of the largest convention facilities in the world. Then there are those parks...

I wonder 1) if they'll keep the ducks - probably not - sad; and 2) if they're in talks for the original Peabody.

Seriously - re the ducks - Hyatt may have a bit of - albeit diffuse - controversy on its hands if it stops the program. There are by now generations who have a kinship with the ducks.

Perhaps the fact that the original Peabody will continue to exist and parade the ducks - and the fact that their (the ducks') "constituency" is diffuse - will take a lot of the heat off. But they have been one of the silly family traditions that people look forward to and pass down - year in and year out - just as they build other silly family traditions into trips.

If Hyatt is in talks for the other Peabody - which has a generation or two on the Orlando edition - they'd do well to think seriously about keeping the ducks - and maybe the name.
