I am not due for a discounted upgrade till November 2014, so I probably won't bother to invest in a new phone, or even a used global. Probably for a 3 week trip to Prague it won't be worth it (learning curve and all).

I would upgrade when I get the chance because I could use it in Amsterdam a couple times a year. Maybe it would be worth using in Bangkok once a year. So far, I am familiar enough with both Amsterdam and Bangkok (going both places on business repeatedly) that I don't need the apps there, although if I had a global phone I might use it in both of those places.

This being my first trip to Prague I thought it might be helpful doing business to have the translate app. But maybe there will be enough English spoken to get me by along with my Czech/English phrase book/dictionary.

I just checked with Verizon and they quoted me $ 199. for an upgrade to the Galaxy S4 16 G, and $ 299. for the 32 G, plus $ 30 as and upgrade fee.
