Hospitality (ie Hotel) Industry - starting "ground floor" - what is involved?

A relative of mine has been offered a job to start a job at a hotel in the "ground floor", with the goal of eventually getting enough training and experience to get a managerial position.

What roles during the starting/training phase should she expect, and what roles should she not be asked to do?

I am in particular asking about hotel reception job, cleaning lady (of the rooms), dishwasher, working at the parking lot (if there is one with an attendant of the parking booth), hotel operator etc?
