I monitor the the threads on CruiseCritic daily and no line receives more mention of a downward spiral in terms of food as well as "worn" accommodations than does Holland America. That said all cruise lines are in a race to the cellar, hell bent on emulating the airlines.
That, sadly, appears to be the truth. Even supposedly 'upscale' lines such as Seabourn & Azamara are showing the pinch as management (er, ownership) attempts to squeeze out every possible penny of profit. And your bang-for-the-buck is poorer at those price points to begin with. Oh well.
