BTW: because of this policy I was even considering driving to Vermont where the office doesn't require a tix or itinerary (I guess because it's next to the border). Pretty sad.
There is also a pp office in Stamford, Ct. (closer than Vt.), which may be able to do things faster than the NY office.
If you are using a cc to purchase your ticket, there should be NO rush to cancel, since only your credit line is being tied up [assuming it doesn't "hit" your account close to the end of your billing cycle.]
