What I have learned is that if you accept any compensation "on site", make sure you get everything you want into the deal then and there, as there will be nothing more coming to you later. It wasn't a great offer on AY's part IMHO, but he accepted it and that is that.
What I dislike most is the selection process - If told right they pinpointed him due to the corporate fare being without regulatory protection as a non-published and/or non-consumer fare.
If that is the true bumping-prio applied by AY, it is one of the most bizarre business rules I've ever heard of.
