For a younger kid, often the bathroom sink and a washcloth will be more than fine. I can't imagine sticking an inflatable tub in my luggate - ick! If you think about it, the most important area on a diaper wearer to clean is the diaper area - sit 'em in the sink and you can wash that part just fine. The rest of the kid can easily be cleaned with a washcloth. For thousands of years humanity did just fine without inflatable baby tubs.
For an older kid - i.e. toddler, one of us just got in the shower with him and it worked fine - as long as we remembered to bolt the hotel room door so the little streaker didn't give everyone a show.
We tend to go somewhere and stay there when we travel with our kids. I agree that deflating and packing a wet tub would not be a good idea. But ours would dry in a day. And it wasn't that big. Took up about 10 diapers' worth of space.
It really depends on the size of the kid. Ours outgrew sinks by 2-3 months. At 6 months he was the size of an avg 2-year-old. He likes to rub his food in his hair, he is on his hands and knees crawling everywhere, etc. so we do have to scrub him down pretty well all over. The sink just wouldn't cut it.
Maybe we're a fringe case. shrug. But if there's anyone else out there in our shoes, I can recommend the small blow-up tubs. We actually use it at home in the big tub, too, as it requires a lot less water and keeps our squirmy guy contained nicely.
