Thanks so much for the advice... I have to admit the words "wet soapy baby" send chills down my paranoid dad spine, so I think what I might do is maybe try a test run at home before leaving on a trip that involves shower-only hotel rooms... if we feel uncomfortable with it then I think we'll resort to the inflatable bathtub as shown by swise. Given that he won't be standing by then, it might be the way to go.
