Since you used to be based by HPN, what's your take on the Playland beach?
It's okay. Nothing great. A nice diversion for the locals, but not a "beach" I would send anyone visiting from out of town. I guess it qualifies as "a beach", but it's on Long Island Sound, so, if you go, keep your expectations low.
But if one can't get to a true "beach", it's fine for a little while.
Disclaimer: I have not been to the Playland beach since Sandy hit. I know there was extensive damage to the Ice Casino and the boardwalk and the pier and restaurant, and I have no idea if that's all been repaired or not. If not, then the "beach" would not be much of a destination.
