The elite statuses at Hertz are Five Star and President's Circle.

"Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Gold" sounds like their basic tier, which I always knew as #1 Club Gold. I guess they rebranded it?? If this is indeed an elite tier now, then somebody please correct me.

Avis President and National Elite are both actual elite tiers.

National Elite is very worthwhile to me because it lets me select from a pretty wide variety of cars: Emerald Aisle, Executive Selection, or (in a pinch) whatever's sitting on the regular midsize aisle. ~tc~, you'd almost always be able to select a smaller car from one of those locations. And then the one time you have a carload of people and want an SUV or premium car, you'd be able to pick that as well. For me, I'm usually just looking for active sat radio, and usually I can find it. And maybe 1 out of 5 rentals, they put something interesting that I've never driven on the Exec aisle and I take that...a luxury car, sportscar, whatever. Being able to choose my car is awesome...I'd struggle to go back to a lot of Hertz rentals, even if they were President's Circle and (usually) upgraded.
