I really wouldn't feel the need to "play it safe." There are folks on here who pretend that certain rules are enforced by UA, either because they genuinely don't understand that the world is a lawless place full of human beings rather than robots (the robots work at LH), or because they want to encourage fellow travelers to "behave."

In practice, the likelihood of you having the linear limit enforced against a bag that is slightly over is exceedingly low. I think you would be fine.
