I moved from BJ to SH around 2 years back (my 3rd stint) in Shanghai, and decided to live a humble (Bundless life). In the process, I made a lot of really nice friends, and have to say that we do really cool things. Whether or not I'm in town, TravelingmanS is an excellent resource, and the GY is our main hang out.
I will now declare that SH is better than BJ for living, but for short visits, BJ wins by a substantial margin.
I don't participate in "City X vs. City Y" threads, as I find those discussions rather silly. Every city has it's advantages, and it's disadvantages, some might be even very different depending on the weather/time of year.
