OP - I had a package that was 63". Rather than risk it, I redid the cardboard packaging. Got it to about 60". Ua didn't measure, but better safe than $200 sorry.
My large bag is right on the border...technically over with the wheels. I've never, ever, had it measured in probably 20 some trips. Just a data point.
