Am married to a technician and now travel with a young child.
The technician made me start thinking about luggage in a different way and travelling with a child forced me to adopt a different style of packing.

The change came when we stayed with my father-in-law in Tokyo as I couldn't keep the contents of our luggage from over spilling and merging together. From then on I adopted the cube system but still had problems (couldn't see what was in them and fitting them back in to the case was like doing a 3D puzzle). Then my husband needed something to wheel equipment around and liked the idea of his trolley being a portable seat so we got the Zuca Artist pro and from them on... Order! Beautiful, magical order. Only improvement that was then made was the Glamcor pouches as the frosted top is less 'sticky' than the Zuca Artist pouch which has a clear vinyl lid and the sides of the Glamcor pouches are a little firmer.

I am currently adapting a newly acquired Zuca Artist Backpack so that I can hold my daughter's clothes and accessories in it when travelling with (or without) the rolling Zuca case. Uncustomised it doesn't make full use of the 20x40x55cm allowance on Ryanair but by adding the shoe box size cube to the bottom with removable Velcro straps it's absolutely ideal. I get the same sense of order as with the zuca roller and immediate access to a surprisingly large number of her items which stay firmly in the vicinity of the bag.

If I had to travel with a suit I would feel differently. Travelling with a toddler doubles the amount of items you need to keep under control and both kinds of Zuca are absolutely ideal for this purpose. So much so that I'm prepared to deal with the temporary inconvenience of carrying a couple of packing cubes/pouches on my person in exchange for the sense of order and organisation that the Zuca roller provides (after all it is quite a bit heavier than the Gate8 bag). Apart from the lack of wheels, I am pretty sure the customised Zuca Artist Backpack is the perfect bag for my purposes.
