Yes, the gate8 will not be suitable if you prefer the stacking cube method as described. Infact, I don't even use the included cubes in my bag, so I am the other extreme. I prefer rolling and tucking on the sides.
Do you own Zucas? Its an interesting form factor. What do you like the most about it (if you do own them)?

The Zuca Artist Backpack allows a scaled down version of the same packing cube system, but the "cubes" that come with the backpack are utility pouches with clear lids (you need to buy at least two more to fill the backpack)
