Am I the only one who thinks the ban on electronic devices during takeoff/landing has nothing to do with interference and rather that they'd rather you not be "zoned out" with your music/book/game so that you can pay attention in the rare chance there is a problem?
I'd think takeoff/landing are probably the two most dangerous parts of a flight (albeit a near zero risk of incident its probably still safer than cruising at 35,000 feet) and they dont want the person in 32A to not hear emergency instructions because he is so focused on his fruit ninja.
