Just a couple of weeks ago I actually got two reps in a row, both of whom insisted that the website would allow me to upgrade the class of travel on one leg of an existing Avios 2-4-1 booking. Which you have never been able to do.

By the end of the second conversation, I was getting ready to kill myself.
I hate to break it to you, but a fee is payable in that situation and any where you are trying to do something which the website can never do. The waiver is only supposed to be applied when you want to do something that the website can do but has decided it doesn't want to today.
