I have commuted to/from work on the ERJs for several years now, and have noticed it multiple times. At times it is barely noticeable, and a few times it has been quite noticeable. Was up in the jumpseat one day and the two guys driving commented that the roll on that aircraft on that day was probably at about the limit, and they should write it up for maintenance when we landed in EWR.

I imagine the 145's autopilot has a bit 'looser' tolerance, and we tend to notice it a bit more than on say a Boeing product. The 757 I fly is pretty rock solid in holding the wings level, but the ERJ might have a bit wider allowance of a degree of roll....or two. Just surmising. I don't fly that plane, but thought I would chime in that that plane does indeed seem to occasionally experience the noticeable back and forth roll you described.
