+1 We were in Hawaii for two weeks earlier this summer. Granted I used travel packages rather than paying cash for my stays. The first week we were at Kauai Lagoons in a 2 Bedroom unit and the 2nd week we were in a standard hotel room at Marriott Wailea. Having a 2 Bedroom made a huge difference versus the standard room. We have a 7 year old daughter. Even a one bedroom would make a huge difference. Having a place where one of the parents can stay with lights on, TV on, etc. while the younger kid(s) are asleep in their room is great. With a standard hotel room, it is very constraining for the parent who is staying with the kid(s) that night. If I could have gotten into the Marriott Ocean Club on points, we would have stayed there instead of Wailea. I have previously stayed at The Marriott Ocean Club but it was only a studio (like you're leaning towards). It just reinforced why a minimum of a one bedroom is really critical. My two cents...

Aloha,

Jon

P.S. When paying cash, I have had good luck in Hawaii using VRBO and other sites to rent a condo for the same or less money than a hotel room. You won't get the same level of pampering as you do at a hotel or a vacation club and the pool(s) will be less spectacular but you will get plenty of space for everyone to spreadout. The pools have always been nice enough for everyone to enjoy. Each to their own, but another option to think about....
