I picked Hilton due to Hampton Inn. I travel with others for work and we don't travel enough to earn gold status most years, so without free breakfast or wifi, people get grumpy. I prefer Hampton over Fairfield. Holiday Inn Express vs. Hampton Inn is close, but with credit card spend with Hilton, I get Diamond, which is useful for the few overseas trips I take a year (Diamond is better than Platinum). Hilton also has the best point value for credit card spend.

So its more of a combination of reasons vs any one single thing Hilton does.
