Tried searching for updated info on this but haven't found anything. The last relevant thread regarding my question is here:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...jfk-hkg-2.html
but some information from Cathay's site has changed. I'll be making a SFO-HKG flight on Cathay soon, but with AA codeshare (racking up miles for their accidental Fast track to Elite promo). I'm MPC silver level, no higher status on OW or AA. Does anyone know if I'll still be able to use the CX lounge even though I'll be using an AA flight number?
In the previous thread above, it stated that CX says "Available only to members departing on flights operated by Cathay Pacific and/or Dragonair" with no mention of marketed carrier, so it was assumed as long as it's CX metal, one can access their lounge if their MPC level is high enough normally.
On CX's site now, it says " The Marco Polo Club benefits are applicable only to flights marketed and operated by Cathay Pacific/Dragonair, and do not apply to joint operating or codeshare flights operated by third-party carriers (with the exception of Air New Zealand-operated flights marketed by Cathay Pacific between Auckland and Hong Kong)." So either the previous thread had incorrect information or CX updated their policies. I'm wondering if CX will be strictly following this policy now or will they be lenient if I have my MPC card with me?
