Who on Earth thought that a terrace, which implies views, would benefit from a gigantic support? It ruins the terrace. And it'd not even elegant, more of an industrial construction than something benefitting a F lounge.
From the Flounge, and both north and south J lounges, the terraces give a good view of runway activity. The CCR is a first rate lounge but its terrace seems to be an after-thought.
Just accept it, the whole of T5 was designed as a giant shed without much of a thought for grace and beauty (or passenger-flow, etc) from inside. And that makes me sad
