HKG dep 3pm to BKK then the BKK-SIN-MNL.route begins the next day at 8am, so it's not technically a stopover.
since it's an overnight stay, I am guessing we can leave the BKK airport?

what does the 24 hour rule encompass? my first flight leaves 3pm, my last flight leaves next day departs12:25noon and arrives final destination 4pm, while flight segment more than 24hours for the ticketed oneway award
It means that from your arrival time to the connecting departure time must be less than 24 hours. Note that if you leave BKK airport, you will be asked to give 700 Baht departure tax when you return to the airport the next day. This departure tax is imposed by both SQ and TG for the Bangkok Airport Authorities. As you are connecting only, you are in theory, not supposed to leave the airport! The departure tax is not included in your ticket as agin, you're only connecting. Just be forewarned, that's all.
