Be sure to be cognizant of the dates you use since this could take an extra day of travel plus crossing over the dateline.

I was able to piece together a combination of mostly long haul F and a few C segments between LAX and SYD connecting via ICN, HND, and BKK on OZ and TG. The return is via BKK, HKG, ICN, KIX, and SFO on TG, OZ, and UA all for 160K UA MP points plus a couple hundred USD in taxes.

Perfect and absolutely amazing!! Exactly what I wanted thanks so much!!!

Is there any easy way to check Cathay Pacific for SYD->HKG->SFO?

NVM - > Just found the Qantas website works well for it. Thanks again!!
Thanks!!
If you are planning to redeem AAdvantage miles for the trip, be aware that AA will charge more miles for SFO-HKG-SYD than for SFO-LAX/DFW-SYD. AA's one-way awards between North America and the South Pacific do not permit routing via any third zone.
