Peach is a cool name. But naming your brand "Vanilla" is a major oversight, and I bet ANA would've never named it as such if they took the time to find out its connotations in America (does it also mean the same in UK?).

I'm continually amazed by the lack of due diligence on the part of Japanese companies to do a simple check with native speakers to make sure something doesn't sound stupid. Japan's major basketball league is called BJ League (Basketball Japan), and Mitsubishi used to make an SUV named Pajero which everyone used to make fun of when I was in Spain.
