...and depending on the age of the kids, if they are sub-4, he should delay boarding. Parents must limit the time their potential screamers are strapped in. That is my golden rule.

When travelling alone with limited carry-on I also have zero desire to pre-board. It's only necessary when fighting for overhead space.
