I haven't seen anybody turned away from LAB, unless it was obvious you had the whole CK Obsession perfume bottle on.
Then LAB gets a very diverse crowd of people, very sexy and very willing to interact with others. The crowd tends to be in the 20-45 years old range, good looking and of all hair colors (or no hair). Lab attracts a heavy tourist crowd, mostly European tourists.
And, actually, I have met quite a few young and blond germans in the depths of Lab. So I think you probably did look the part and added to the diversity of the place.
And I think the crowd at Lab more than gives Tom's basement crowds a run for its money. In all regards. But that's just MHO

The entry process at Lab was the weirdest part of the night. We are both late 20s, not ugly but fairly clean cut. We purposely dressed in plain, basic dark clothes so we wouldn't look too obviously touristy.
We rang the doorbell and the 'door guy' came out, looked us up and down and said nothing.
(awkward silence)
We asked if we could come in and he asked 'do you even know what this is'
We told him the name of the night there that night (we had researched this earlier - it was the colour of the sun if you get what I mean).
He then said 'do you think you have what it takes for this place?'
I said yes, he then asked 'what makes you think you have what it takes?'
(what the hell do you say to that?!?)
At that point I decided to just match his tone and began being just as abrupt as he was. I think the confidence actually helped because he changed his tune a bit and (still somewhat reluctantly) allowed us in. He looked like he was sick of tourists sightseeing in what I thought was more of a locals club.
The process with clothing and drinks once you get inside is quite confusing - I'd read up or ask before going if you are a first timer. The bartender was super, super friendly (and a total babe).
Inside the crowd was all ages, sizes, shapes and types. I saw things I hardly believed with my own eyes but was expecting that. I would estimate average age to be 40's, with few people under 30 - we were
definitely two of the youngest these. There were a few that were young and goodlooking tourists - they were the ones we met and stayed with - I think because we were all a bit overwhelmed and out of place so we banded together (and gathered quite a bit of attention).
I wouldn't hesitate to go again but would exhibit more brash confidence at the door next time.
