Compensation for turnaround/canceled flight
$250 voucher on top of hotel and meals (though that voucher was laughable) is pretty good. I wouldn't expect much else.
Your employer should understand that $h!t happens. Nothing to be done about it.
If your hotel was business, your employer should again take care of this. If personal, did you use a credit card? It probably has some kind of insurance included. If not you can probably discuss it reasonably with them. I've found that discussing things like this calmly and rationally usually brings good results.
