(Except for the showers in IAH, and the only time I care about those is when I'm connecting on an int'l itinerary.)
Well, in my case and I would bet in others, they are that special. When you live in a non-hub city and are forced to take one of the three or four flights offered out of your city, the UC is a nice respite from the gate area on a three- to four-hour layover which is why I have a UC membership.
