Go with a very open mind. You will likely see things that may shock you and think 'that doesn't seem right', but just realise you are in a city with very few rules. Don't plan too much because the best things are spontaneous and random.

Me and my BF went to Kater Holzig on Friday night just to see a good example of a good 'straight' club. If you don't speak German I would recommend getting there as early as possible. It was a really cool space.

Saturday night we went to Lab for the only reason of getting a stamp for Berghain. We almost didn't even get let into Lab because we didn't really look the part (young, blonde, don't speak German). Lab was very full on - read up about the nights that are on when you are there - the dress code is enforced as are the limited opening hours (its basically a 'lock in' after midnight). Had planned to just sit by the bar and kill time before getting our stamp but wound up meeting a few locals and tourists and spent the rest of the night going to other places with them - didnt even bother with Berghain.

Meant to go to GMF on Sunday as heard nothing but good things but again, got sidetracked with a local. Went to the city beach on Monday intending to have a quiet night and ran into some of the guys from Lab, and again, had another massive night. Visited just about every bar that was open on the Monday night with these 3 other guys - one of the places was a bear bar where we looked ridiculously out of place but they were incredibly welcoming. Ended up downstairs at Toms by the end of the night.

Felt very, very unwell the next day.

Can't wait to go back!
