LCC Spicejet (India) announced that now you can buy the seats next to you.

"Don’t like sitting next to strangers? No-frills carrier SpiceJet will let you have the entire row, for a fee.

The Gurgaon-based carrier has tied up with travel services provider Optiontown to offer a wide range of dynamic travel options.

Passengers flying on SpiceJet can now opt for the Empty Seat Option (ESo) that offers them to have empty seats next to them for anywhere between R250-R900.

“It’s almost like getting a flat bed when you secure the entire row of three seats to yourself,” said Sachin Goel, CEO, Optiontown."

Buying seats is not new. But they are offering it for a mere $4-$15 (1USD=60 INR) where the flights costs an average of $150. Not sure if they will make any money but it will get them extra revenue on empty flights.
