It goes into limbo, where the bank considers you still have that credit with them. But of course, it's linked to a cancelled card, so you can't access it. The speculation was that it takes 3 to 6 months for that credit to be opened back up for new apps. If true, you didn't really lose that credit line, you just put it on hold for some months. Eventually it will be available to you again.
