Yes, it's possible. But if your bag does appear on the belt, that may be the last time you see it for a while. Why risk it? Take it to a hotel at DFW and give the bellmen some cash to hold it for you until you're back in DFW. Make sure that there's enough time in your itinerary to leave and retrieve your bag. IMO, checking your bag for a turn to a one AA flight per day destination is sort of like Russian Roulette. Yes, it might work.
