The type of plane we were flying on the short trip to Toronto

Looking back at the Bar. We received one free drink each on a voucher we were given.

Time to leave so one last shot…….

Boarding was quick and I never took any of the cabin in economy ( 2 x 2 configuration and 2 x 1 for Business of which there were three rows) Here are a few shots whilst we taxied out and took off.

Before we knew it we were collecting our cases and off to Barrie which is about an hour’s drive North of Toronto. We were all tired so off to bed it was.
A nice flight, smiley CC and we were served drinks and a soft snack and biscuits.

I probably should have added earlier that the Holiday Inn was more functional than grand. The breakfasts were a bit of a disaster with the two waiters making a mess of the orders on 2 of the 3 days and one of them even added an 18 or 20 % option to tip. Needless to say I told him I wasn’t leaving a tip and although I could see he was not happy what did he expect. It took nearly 50 minutes to get things sorted one morning. I would NOT stay there again or recommend it.

The Wi-fi was painfully slow in the rooms but the reception was OK. The front reception staff and the Concierge were very helpful. Another thing with this hotel is there are no in room safes which is fine as I knew this. However, the ones at reception are only about 18 inches long by six (yes 6) inches wide!! Useless, except for wallets, money, passports.

I took the decision we would all take our iPads with us in rucksacks every day as I certainly wouldn’t be leaving them in the room. I did have to leave my laptop though in a locked case which wasn’t ideal. There are better places than this in NY and although it was close to the Subway system, Cafes etc. there are just far more better choices. Ah well you learn through experience I suppose.

We arrived at our ‘home’ at about 11pm and the next morning was beautiful so I sat outside and ate my breakfast there. Coming next…………… Barrie!

Home for the next 10 days and a very relaxing time to be had after the hectic, but enjoyable, time in New York.
