They are not available for points via the website though. I'd gladly pay the difference in price, if they accept this. Or should I can book 2 rooms?
If you need a particular room type, in this case room with 2x queens, then standard advice is always book what you need, and not hope for it on arrival as you may be out of luck, not something you really need arriving with 2 young children.
Also if not arriving very early in the day, I'd ring on the day, to ensure such restricted room type are not all given to other guests checking in before you ... or extending their stay by a night.
If not showing even as paid room types you need to deal direct with hotel. 2queens room hotel mentions maybe basic room type you have on points, but equally could be a higher room type needing free/paid upgrade.
Best you can do is email hotel, saying room is for 2adults and 2 young n children, asking if award reservation can be amended to 2queens room, and that you will be happy to pay a supplement if that is a higher room type to your booking.
If hotel are not helpful then book two rooms, asking for connected rooms in 'special requirements' field.
I had issue at NH Center Amsterdam, only 2 rooms in whole hotel with two queens. I booked normal double online, visited reception same day in person to get 2Queen allocated to my booking...
Then I turned up 12noon on the day to checkin earliest allowed, on my friends behalf, to be told sorry neither 2xQueen available as guest extended stay that morning in my allocated room.
As only 12noon I said not acceptable, room is specifically booked for me, so tell guest sorry, hotel mistake, room already booked but they can have a normal double.
If I had waited till 4pm when friends arrived in Amsterdam, getting the room I booked and really needed might not have been possible.
