Wall Street and 9/11 Tour

What a great Tour this was and very well explained by our Tour Guide, Rob, who is a NY resident and was around on the day in question. He was a freelance Photographer at the time and reported on many of the tragedies. Historical, well explained but very sad in many parts. It all started off from here and there were just 11 of us in total so very informal. We all introduced ourselves to each other and was a mixture of American’s, Canadians, Norwegians and of course 2 Scottish fellows. A very nice bunch they were too.

The Freedom Tower on Vessey Street which is replacing one of the Twin Towers which fell although the original site of the Twin Towers are now Memorials.

At one point it became sunny for about 10 minutes and then it clouded over again……

Some of the tributes to the Emergency Service Workers who perished on that dreadful day.

St Pauls Chapel where this became a resting/refreshment place for the Emergency Services.

This is going to some cylindrical monument resting on these two structures.

We then headed over to the American Express Building. 11 persons lost their lives and here is the tribute to them. As you can see there are 11 lights with all of them coming down to the one large piece of Crystal to the centre. There are water drops which fall in a set sequence into the memorial causing ripples. These ripples all interconnect with each other to show they are all as ‘one’ connected to each other. I felt really sad at this point and my heart went out to all of them and their families. Here are a few photos which show how each family described their loved one.

This is a memorial garden for Dogs as a NYPD Police Dog was killed on that day.
