You will not be able to upgrade on CX. If you do not have AA flight numbers, you won't earn miles (if your flights are marketed by AA, that is AA flight numbers, it will be as if you were flying AA as far as AA miles, but if your flights are CX flight numbers, regardless of where you purchased the tickets, you will not earn AA miles).
