I will be traveling from the US to Hong Kong in a couple weeks. My flight is operated by Cathay Pacific but my tickets were purchased from American. I am booked in fare code "M" and was wondering how I can upgrade from economy to first or business using AAdvantage miles.

First of all, is it even possible to upgrade using American miles and if so, what's the fee and miles required? I know the AA website mentions upgrading using miles but not quite sure if that chart applies to flights operated by Cathay, too.
