No concern for loyalty in this case—I just want something resembling a good night's rest. That said, I'm not actually sure it's true that I have many options, at least in this case—as an earlier poster pointed out, AA's A321 service hasn't started yet, and I'll be flying SFO --> JFK this week. And to those who have mentioned UA's newly converted 752s—unfortunately, the only UA 752 operating on an SFO --> JFK red-eye (at least on the date I'm looking at) has not yet been converted (and thus has the three-cabin configuration).
Ultimately I just have to accept I'll have something other than a lie-flat seat, though in that case, being an inexperienced traveler, I'm not sure what type of seat would give me the best shot at sleeping.
