Both steel and composite toe safety shoes will get through TSA security with no issue. Personally I wouldn't wear them throuht because it is a PITA to put them back on when in the security area. I normally pack them in my carry on and have never had to take them out for further inspection. Ironically, I can't say the same about my Jimmy Choos.
