I was looking at the DTW terminal map, seems to have a lot of shopping and restaurant options. DH (who travels a lot for work) has been avoiding it as a connection airport because of Detroit's reputation, but it looks like a more convenient transfer point than ATL, since Delta is always making him switch terminals.
I generally like DTW as a transfer point, and as a major hub, it has all of the services and resources to handle problems that ATL does. The one thing I don't like about it is switching terminals...the long walk through the very strangely lit/decorated tunnel is....well....strange...
