What struck me about it is the playfulness, which is seldom in evidence around airports or any large corporation for that matter. Also, I thought it was very clever and cute to show someone playing with a toy plane, specifically making it fly, as the logo for a company that helps make real planes fly.
I agree with you...I think the extra design feature is a pleasant change. Take it away and all you'd be left with would be a rather boring WISAG logo.
For instance I saw the new GLA airport logo was recently unveiled......boring and unimaginative as hell. A dash of colour at least would have made all the difference.
