I can confirm that the visible waitlist that we see on .bomb or the app doesn't always show everyone.

For example... Just last night I checked in for my flight shortly after T-24. I immediately jumped to number one on the waitlist. Inventory showed F4, and all E fare-buckets at 9, so I knew there were four seats to be had. I went to check in my fiance (my ticket was cash hers was on my miles and I have the Pres Plus card). After check-in I expected her to be added to the list as well. No dice... she was nowhere to be found on the list.

At that point I let her know we might have the upgrade dilemma, given it looked like I would most likely clear and she wouldn't. We talked about trying to add her to the list at the airport. Changing her booking to a saver first etc. but decided since we had good E+ seats (and many drink chits) that we would try to stay in E+ together if we possible. Otherwise she would take the F seat.

As we were talking about different options I noticed TWO new emails... both of them "Elite Upgrade Notification" emails! Much to my surprise one was for her and one for me. We both cleared at basically the same time.

She was nowhere on the list before she cleared and everything in her booking looked normal leading up to checking in. Her itinerary showed upgrade requested and everything just like it should.

I did notice a distinct difference between her mobile boarding pass and mine however. Mine said I was added to the upgrade waitlist at the bottom and her's did not. This and the fact she wasn't on the waitlist led me to believe she wasn't added.

Needless to say I was very surprised she cleared without being shown on the waitlist and with the mobile boarding pass not notating she was added to the list. I know this "phantom list" has been reported here before but this was the first time I saw it happen first hand.

So to your question, not sure if you should be worried or not as its highly possible you are on some list just not one visible to the general public. How many seats are booked vs available? Is there even much of a chance you'll get upgraded?
