I have rented from Hilton LAX before, the cars are parked on the sixth level underground, there is a drop box for keys in the lobby for late returns, however, I would drop off you luggage at Hilton, return the car to LAX the night before and take the hotel shuttle back to the hotel. You get a reciept on the spot and if there are overcharges, you can bring them up then.
