I suppose it is a matter of personal preference, but we are returning our car to LAX, before flying back to Spain. We plan to stay overnight at the LAX Hilton where I notice there is an HLE.

We could either return the car on arrival at the hotel, to the Hilton HLE, or drive to the airport to catch our flight the next morning and return it to the main LAX depot.

There is absolutely no difference in the cost of either of these options.

If we returned to the Hilton HLE, we'd use their shuttle to the airport. Either way involves hauling bags onto a shuttle, I guess. We have been through LAX many times but never stayed at the Hilton.

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas on this, please? Oh, we have an early start with an 8am flight.
