2) Travel agent fares can be upgraded with Avios in very limited circumstances (more by exception). If you cannot do it online, try a dummy full redemption booking, then ringing BA. Expedia can also do full price upgrades too. But you won't get proactive upgrades (POUG). You can do cash upgrades on the day at the airport (known as AUP). On the whole using Expedia is best if you are going to totally fix your trip, and they are not necessarily much cheaper than BA if you hunt around ba.com for a bit.
